The British Museum Collections

The British Museum contains the collection of more than 8 million breathtaking objects that attract visitors. Those objects are painted based on some unified portraits about the culture of the world. The museum also enlists the British traditional collections that are eye-catching. The Library’s collection within the Museum reflects the human history, cultures and art collections from the beginning of the museum to the present. The range of objects associated with 1753 up to 13 million objects in the British Museum, from which 70 million belongs to natural history and about 150 at the British Library.

Norman Foster designed the Great Court that is the heart of this museum. It also consists of the Roman assortment collections, an art of the Greeks, the Egyptians collection, the amazing treasures from over all the world including Roman Britain, Anglo-Saxon, Mesopotamia, Japan, etc. While, the second-floor galleries have the most sought-after exhibits for visitors. With a wide collection of 140 mummies and coffins, out of which the highest proportion comes from tombs or contexts related to the cult of the dead, here is a chance to dig into the history of humans.

The most popular exhibitions of the museum include the Ice Age Art, Herculaneum and the Life and Death in Pompeii, which encourage visitors to come here again and again. The Round Reading Room was designed by an architect Mr. Sydney Smirke, that later got closed with the construction of the national library.

Architecture of British Museum

The British Museum's exterior architecture design basically reflects the main purpose of this building.  The design of the museum has been borrowed from ancient Greek temples, and the pediment at the top of the building is a common feature of classical Greek architecture. The east and west residences of the museum possess the modest exterior.
