About Shikari Devi Temple In Mandi

Leveled at the height of 2850 meters, Shikari Devi Temple is a roofless Hindu temple which is situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The pathway leading to the temple is a paradise for nature lovers because of the medicinal herbs and beautiful flowers that are rooted to welcome you on your way. Also famous as Shikari Mata Mandir, the place is highly dedicated to Shikari Devi (hunter goddess). All decked up with the fresh natural beauty, colorful floras and off course the dreamy clouds the temple maintains a stone image of the deity. The place offers a spectacular view of the mountains and hilly areas around. Visit the place if you love heights and wish to explore the cultural history of the temple.

History of Shikari Devi Temple

The temple is believed to be in existence during the time of Pandavas, and in the archaic days the hunters (shikaris) used to worship the goddess in order to touch the success in their hunts. The deity of the temple is called the Shikari Devi and if anyone gathered the guts to build a roof over the top of this majestic temple it would be a complete failure, hence the temple has no roof. The temple also has a great significance in the holy book Markandeya Purana and the mega epic Mahabharata.

Attractions of Shikari Devi Temple

The temple houses many trekking places and it is packed inside a dense layer of lush greenery and soothing floras. If you have a thing for adventure you must check out the trekking spots that will lead you to places like Chindi and Kullu. While here don’t miss the experience to cherish a memorable time of trekking around the beautiful pines, magical clouds and hilly areas. In addition to that, the Shikari Devi Temple Mandi is a great place for sightseeing and admiring the Himalayas from a distance. You can also check out the Shikari Devi Sanctuary which is located near this Hindu temple. The place is a natural habitat for black bear, barking deer, musk deer, and Monal. The sanctuary is located hardly 15km away from the Janjehli village.

Mohapeameya's 4 days trip to Mandi

Hotel in Shimla was down the valley. It was actually hot and unpleasant stay. Manali was okayish. First and last visit to Shimla Manali... Rohtang pass is good provided you leave at 3am. We left at 3:30am and still got some traffic.

Manish's 5 days trip to Mandi

I had an incredible Manali-Kasol trip in June organized by TurnonVacation. Starting from Chandigarh in a comfortable sedan car, the journey was smooth and scenic. The local sightseeing in Manali was breathtaking, and the visits to Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, and the Atal Tunnel were unforgettable experiences. Kasol and Manikaran added a peaceful and spiritual touch to the trip. The accommodations were cozy, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. TurnonVacation ensured everything was well-organized, making the trip truly enjoyable. Highly recommend them for a memorable adventure!

Vijay's 5 days trip to Mandi

1) Hotel Stay at Dalhousie ( Hotel The Jade Mountain) was excellent. Room cleanliness, Staff Behavior, Food Quality were excellent. Only thing lacking was the absence of balcony in the provided room. 2) Regarding Hotel Stay at Dharamshala ( Sky Bhagsu): Room was good and clean but the bathroom was very smelly, I told the same to housekeeping but that was not improved. 3) Hotel at Shimla Aranya vilas was excellent specially Balcony and hill view. Early breakfast (30-60 mins) may be arranged due to onward journey at the time of checking out.

Drpraveendran's 6 days trip to Mandi

The hotel stay in Shimla was horrible. The room was very congested. The service and attitude of the staff was much below the expectations. The stay in Kasol was very good. The stay at Manali was reasonable. The quality of food was good at Kasol but very poor in Shimla and Manali. The vehicle was good, but the driver was very rash in driving. The driver was not familiar with the site seeing locations that caused lot of wastage of time. The agent did not make the hotel payment on time and this caused some confusion and delay in checking out from Hotels.
