Ideal Duration

While Malaysia isn’t exactly half a world away, it’s not just down the street from your house either. This isn’t like a trip from Mumbai to Pune where you can get there and come back within the same day. If you’re travelling so far, across the ocean, to a country filled to the brim with sights to see, it may be wise to spend a decent amount of time there. A 10-day vacation with some Mumbai to Malaysia tour packages sounds like a fair amount of time to enjoy a fulfilling holiday here.

Best Time To Visit Malaysia

Summer

Summer in Malaysia stretches from the months of April to October. Temperatures are reasonably comfortable here, with the mercury readings not exceeding the higher 20s on the celsius scale. Most activities in the eastern parts of the country are easily available to partake in and mobility is not affected at all.

Monsoon

The rains in Malaysia are an interesting phenomenon. Essentially, there are two monsoons that pass through the country. During the summer months from April to October, the eastern parts remain entirely sunny with some light, occasional drizzling at most. The western regions, however, experience heavy rainfall during this time, making the climate less than ideal for visitors. The vegetation is in full bloom at this time, but many of the coastal activities and adventure sports out on the sea have to be restricted for safety purposes. The eastern regions, on the other hand, experience monsoon during the winter months, from December to February and they are similarly intense when compared to their western counterparts.

Winter

The winter in Malaysia runs from December to January and the weather is wonderful during this time. The mornings are pleasant, cool and comfortable, with temperatures hovering around the 15? territory. Nighttime is a different story, with the cold air biting a bit more, so you may find it necessary to pack on some layers of clothing. While it is a short window of time, the winter months are a happening time in Malaysia. Various end-of-the-year celebrations are on-going, leading to an exciting time which draws quite the crowd to the country. The eastern part of Malaysia does have a bit of a damper but on some of these parties, however, as the rains are also in full swing during the winter.

How To Reach Malaysia From Mumbai

By Air

It is a fairly painless and convenient process to fly from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airports to a number of destinations in Malaysia. There is one direct flight to Kuala Lumpur, as well as multiple one-stop flights to other destinations such as Langkawi or Penang. The stops commonly occur at Chennai, Bangalore, Bangkok or Colombo and sometimes do require a transit visa.

By Rail

There is a train network within Malaysia itself, but no route from India that connects to it.

By Road

A road trip to Malaysia from Mumbai is a behemoth of a journey, spanning over 6500 km and requiring about 5 days of constant driving. The route crosses the breadth of India, before going through Myanmar and Thailand before entering Malaysia.

FAQs for Malaysia

How much does a Malaysia tour cost from India?

A leisure tour to Malaysia from Mumbai for 5 days and 4 nights would cost you between INR 42,000 to INR 47,000 (excluding flight charges). The cost of your tour includes accommodation, transportation, breakfast, sightseeing, etc. The tour cost also includes various intriguing adventures and a visit to some of the popular attractions in Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands. You can also get an exclusive travel package by customizing your preferred places to visit during your travel journey.

What is the size of Malaysia?

Malaysia covers an area of 330803 sq km in total. This area is split into 13 different states and houses an approximate total of 3.16 crore people, per the World Bank.

Which Malaysian food items should one try?

Malaysians certainly like their food spicy and it will become abundantly clear once you try some of their more popular dishes. The Mee Goreng Mamak, a noodle dish packed with meat, shrimp, some aromatic vegetables and - you guessed it - chilli. The Apam Balik would be considered as a dessert due to its sweetness, but it has a familiar appearance for most Indians, bearing a resemblance to a classic Dosa.

What are Malaysia’s important festivals?

Celebrating the victory of the Lord Muruga over an evil spirit named Soorpadam, Thaipusam is actually a Tamil festival that is also celebrated over in Indonesia. It is celebrated with quite the buzz around Lord Muruga’s shrine at the iconic Batu Caves near the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. The Buddhist population present in Malaysia celebrates the holy day of Vesak, a festival said to commemorate some of the most important milestones of Gautam Buddha’s life.

Sundara's 7 days trip to Malaysia

We asked for few tourist spot near the suggested itenary but was not acknowledged at all. Also the driver could have been more flexible on the timing rather than instructing us to get dropped at the airport five hrs before the departure time to avoid traffic. The driver was polite and friendly though except for the fact of being strict n non accommodative for exploration even though we were on time throughout the trip. Hotel is in outskirts and breakfast wasn't that great spread of indian cuisine. Unfortunately pongal on all days of our stay and few items are below the mark in taste. The nearby metro station was our savior to travel to the heart of city for dinner and don't forget to include the metro ticket fares to your Itenary budget. Overall good and safe trip to Malaysia especially with kids. Melaka was exceptional and the jet skiing at port Dickson was mind blowing. The cable car offered by the operator at genting Highland was totally new to us.

Animesh's 6 days trip to Malaysia

I booked my trip with Kushark from 9th to 15th Feb 2024, while overall itinerary was good & customized, cabs & drivers were really good, but was not at all happy with following: 1. Hotel Selection for Singapore (J8 hotel), you literally dont have any option for breakfast in Veg unless you want to have only bread, they dontr even provide warm milk (this is never recommended) 2. Timings for excursions should have been better, we lost good amount of time and had to rush because of that in Singapore. For eg Universal Studios timings are from 10AM to 8PM, but our pick up from hotel was 11 & return pickup was 7:15; unnecessarily we lost 3 hours and had to miss rides. Similarly for MBS non peak hours entry is till 4/4.30; but our pick up was arranged at 2:45 and got dropped there at 3:15 and due to queue we entered thr at 4:45 and again had to rush & finish it is very quickly. I would mention Ankush (from Kushark) for his quick turnaround before & during the trip for queries & information; which was very helpful. Thansk!

Niketa's 8 days trip to Malaysia

I have been using Travel Triangle for more than half a decade now, so I hope you understand that I am saying this honestly… The quality is really going down!! My initial trips with Travel Triangle were flawless.. But my last two - Sept ‘23 & March ‘24 while alright, just weren’t as well done as they used to be.. It’s twice in a row that the service quality of Travel Triangle’s partners have disappointed me. While so far I’ve reached out to Travel Triangle quite blindly whenever I was planning trips abroad, I think I’m gonna have to reconsider my choices from now onwards…
