Things to do in Andaman

The Andaman Islands look undisturbed by human activities on the first approach, but that’s hardly the case when the islands are bustling with tourist crowd during the peak season in Andaman. These dreamy islands – lit up in sunset radiance – have all the ingredients to make a honeymoon getaway or a family vacation unforgettable. From jet skiing at North Bay Island to scuba diving at Radhanagar Beach and from climbing the highest mountain at Diglipur to sea-walking under the shallow waters, let’s take a look at all the things to do in Andaman during your tropical escape.

Like discovering underwater corals and sailing above an island in a parachute, there is plenty of things to do in Andaman and Nicobar islands for travellers. Learning about Island’s history at the Cellular Jail, paying a visit to the zoo at Chidiya Tapu and the Anthropological Museum, and some retail therapy with dining at Aberdeen Bazaar are quintessential activities to do during a normal sightseeing in Port Blair.

The capital city is an ideal launch-pad for exploring nearby islands via boat and towns via taxis. Travellers take a one-hour ferry ride from Port Blair to reach the scenic Havelock Island, the second largest island in Andaman archipelago. The island features a string of white sandy beaches like Radhanagar Beach, Kala Pathar Beach, Vijay Nagar Beach, Govind Nagar Beach, and Elephant Beach.

Travellers can have some fun under the sun by indulging in swimming, diving, kayaking, and sunbathing in Andaman. Auto rickshaws and shared taxis are available here for people to check out all the beaches in the vicinity.

Some of the top scuba fishing sites in Andaman are at beaches in Havelock Island. Explore vivid coral formations and learn about marine life during an underwater dive. Couples on honeymoon and families on holiday can take pre-dive training and beginner’s session before taking a dive. One session of scuba diving can last up to two hours. Scuba diving and snorkelling is an activity that can be enjoyed by both professional divers and non-swimmers. The Lighthouse, the Wall, Minerva Lodge, Dixon's Pinnacle, and Johnny’s Gorge are popular dive sites in Andaman.

Sea-walking – one of the most rewarding activities in Andaman – includes walking on sea bottom for 25 minutes. Perfect for people of all ages, this is a wholesome family experience to have on your holiday in Andaman. Game fishing in the Andaman Islands is another favourite pastime of locals and travellers alike. There’s nothing like sharing an anecdote with a local and sitting comfortably in a comfy boat waiting for your next catch.

For those who have had enough of the beach can try jungle trekking. Local operators take travellers on beautiful trails in the Mount Harriet National Park. Home to rich native flora and fauna, this national park allows opportunities for bird watching, nature viewing, and picnicking.

Chirag's 7 days trip to Andaman

We had a family vacation at the start of the month; skeptically we booked Andamans fearing about the monsoons, but Travel Triangle and the perfectly chosen partner Pearl Andaman assured me that we will not face any issues weather wise and it will be a great experience to travel during the first week of June. Trusting them we planned our tour, and it was a great experience - starting from Rohan at TT and Shivani from Pearl Andaman - they had been very courteous, helpful and patient. They meticulously planned our travel, taking care of all our needs, booking right hotels and right rooms to accommodate my family. The cab and its drivers were amazing as well - knowledgeable about the place and talked about its history - so were the tour coordinators of both Swaraj and Saheed Dweep. The water activities they suggested and where to do those saved a lot of money as well. I almost missed to mention the ferry services - they booked the best in business for us. :) Big thumps for both TT team and Pearl Andaman team - Thank you so much for everything

Aditi's 5 days trip to Andaman

We had an incredible experience on our trip to the Andaman Islands, all thanks to our agent (Anita) who meticulously planned and coordinated everything. The first two days were quite hectic as we covered major tourist attractions, but it was well worth it. The following four days were gentle and relaxing, providing a perfect balance to our vacation. My mother absolutely loved the trip and even tried scuba diving and other water sports, which was a highlight for her. Although we encountered a few hiccups with the hotel cleanliness on Neil Island, these issues were promptly addressed after I spoke with the manager. Overall, the trip was seamless, with everything running on time and as planned. We are grateful for the agent’s efforts in ensuring we had a memorable experience. I highly recommend their services for anyone looking to explore the Andaman Islands.

Alamshaazia's 9 days trip to Andaman

The trip was organised well but initially we had to keep following up for our trip details, the local travel agent did not connect once we landed. But after that it was a smooth ride all through. There was some miscommunication later on our itinerary, all this was upsetting but it was sorted. Most of the things we asked for during the trip was promptly resolved. Even for the cancelled elephanta trip we were informed that the refund of the boat tickets will be done soon. The hotel rooms had some issues like no handwash at both the hotels, damaged electric kettle at Havelock beach resort and in one room the geyser and the hair dryer was not working. But overall it was a well organised trip.

Kalyan's 6 days trip to Andaman

Overall good n can be satisfied...drivers n cabs n timings n tickets were all good and accurate.I wish I had a better hotel in Neil. The hotel given to us at Neil (sandy ridge)was just average..the rooms were smelly n even the shower did not work and they had rusted taps which were jammed n hard to open n close...the hotel garden was not maintained. Good coordination by travel agent...all went as planned. good behaviour of drivers--one of the driver at havlock helped me by bringing me a Bday cake for my daughter.
